description
Caring for an animal with behavioral concerns can often carry an emotional burden. A wide range of emotions come with being responsible for a beloved animal that displays behaviors that can range from socially unacceptable to outright dangerous. These emotions are real, legitimate, and oftentimes genuinely distressing.

The Zarit Burden Interview was initially created in the 1980s to determine the level of caregiver burden experienced by those caring for a person with dementia. It has subsequently been adapted and scientifically validated for use with those caring for an animal with behavioral concerns. It is presented here to give an unbiased perspective on the impact your pet's behavioral issues may be having on your quality of life. It is not intended to steer you towards any particular outcome for your pet.
