Living with an aging pet brings up many uncomfortable questions about quality of life. When you see a pet every day, it can be legitimately difficult to determine if and how quickly they are declining, both physically and mentally. To assist pet parents and their veterinarians make these decisions, a group of researchers from the Czech and Slovak Republics created the CAnine DEmentia Scale, or CADES. This 17-question assessment and accompanying scale will give you and your veterinarian a tool to help you make critical decisions about your dog's quality of life.
